The Petit Palais, located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris facing the Grand Palais was built for the Universal Exhibition in 1900.
Two years later, it became the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris to receive a continuous collection covering the antiquity to the 19th Century and also temporary exhibitions.
Outside, the Petit Palais has a garden featuring mosaic-trimmed ponds and colonnades.
