The Cathedral Notre-Dame de Paris is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Often simply known as Notre Dame, this is a Gothic cathedral located on the eastern half of the Ile de la Cite, the historical centre of Paris. Here, Napoleon Bonaparte was sacred Emperor of the French in 1804.
