The Cimetière du Père Lachaise is one of the most famous cimeteries in the world. It is the big tourist draw in the 20th arrondissement of Paris.
Due to its gardens and numerous sculptures, it is a real museum and an oasis of peace in Paris. The list of famous people buried here reads like a who's who of Paris's History : Apollinaire, Balzac, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, Molière, Proust, Sarah Bernhardt, Chopin and of course, Jim Morrison, the cemetery's most visited grave.
You can get a free map at the entrance or purchase a better one from shops that border the cemetery.
