Between the war, this neighbourhood of Paris was populated by revolutionaries and artists. Their legacy lives on, amid the modern tower blocks, in a thriving bar and café culture. The District is dominated by the 59-storey Montparnasse tower with the roof terrace offering superb views of Paris.
Montparnasse district is the place of cinemas, cafés (such as the brasserie La Coupole), shopping, restaurants, nightlife, museums such as Musee du Montparnasse or Musee Bourdelle, but also the famous gravestones "Cimetiere du Montparnasse" where famous people are buried.
