Montmartre is the name of the area of the Butte Montmartre, a hill on the north of Paris primarily known for the white-domed Sacre-Coeur Basilic on its summit. From there, the view on Paris is fantastic. A small street will lead you from the Sacre-Coeur Basilic to the Place du Tertre with cafés and lots of painters. On the foot of the Butte Montmartre, you can appréciate typical small cafés and restaurants if you distinguish tourist places from the authentic ones. Montmartre is also the area of Saint-Pierre de Montmartre Church, Montmartre cimetery, Atelier theater and Elysee Montmartre spectacles place. When the night is coming, things are quite different especially on the south side of the area with the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret, dancings, and also lots of sex shops on and around Pigalle place.
