The International Digital Film Forum (IDIFF) is held on the 1st Floor in Hall Ternes at Palais des Congrès in Paris on 22 and 23 January 2013. For two days, professionals from the film and video industry present the latest technology in filming through an impressive exhibition of top-of-the-line digital cameras and videos. In addition to these exhibitions, visitors may learn effective hands-on techniques through the various workshops held by key market players such as Nikon and Canon. Visitors also benefit from listening to knowledgeable speakers during the many conferences that take place over the course of two days.
The IDIFF Paris trade show gather groups of professionals that are involved in three major aspects of filmmaking and video production – shooting, post-production and diffusion. Camera assistants and cinematographers are among the professionals that handle the shooting or production of a film. This group of visitors are interested in the newest digital filming equipment available that could best meet their goals. Post-production workers like colour graders and visual effect supervisors are keen to learn the techniques of film manipulation that render a movie more captivating to the viewer. Cinema owners and film distributors are those who diffuse the movies made. For this last group, understanding the challenges of film distribution in cinemas and through DVDs is key to succeeding in this industry.
The trade show's conferences open on the future trends of digital cameras and videos highlighted during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 in the USA. Other critical topics up for discussion are like the effects of 4K images on film production and diffusion as well as discovering technical solutions for viewers with sensory disabilities. Aside from these conferences, three big brands – Nikon, Canon and Aaton – invite interested visitors to their daily workshops to understand further about these companies' new digital cameras.
The IDIFF Paris trade show is open to professionals only. Visitors may obtain their passes by ordering a badge on the IDIFF Paris official website.
